Overview

Summary:

The Teller I provides friendly, courteous and professional service to bank clients and is responsible for accurately negotiating all normal types of teller line transactions while supporting the operational integrity of the branch. Promotes business for the bank and meets the needs of customers by referring them to appropriate team members for new products and services.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides the highest quality of service to every customer.
  • Processes and negotiates customer transactions with accuracy while verifying endorsement, receiving proper identification and ensuring validity.
  • Ensures proper cash limits are maintained and accurately balance cash drawer daily.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of bank’s products and services to promote new business through a needs-based approach.
  • Cross-sells bank products and services to existing bank customers and refer customers to appropriate team members.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures, loss prevention and security guidelines and supports the operational integrity of the branch.
  • Responsible for meeting individual goals that are established in support of overall branch objectives.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

Essential Education, Skills and Experience (Required):

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a customer service environment to include cash handling.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to make quality decisions and perform all teller functions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills, organizational and computer skills.

Nonessential Education, Skills and Experience (Preferred):

  • Six (6) months commercial or financial industry Teller experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of banking regulations and laws.
  • Understanding of branch operations.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel may be required for training and assisting other branches with staffing shortages. Float tellers are required to travel daily from branch to branch within a specific region.
