Provides clerical, administrative and operational support as needed to multiple lending functions in accordance with established systems and procedures. The Loan Operations Specialist I is responsible for assisting with the daily responsibilities of the Loan Operations department including answering inquiries from customers, loan officers and co-workers.               


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process and update retail, commercial, mortgage, construction, boat loans and participation loan renewals and/or demand loans upon receipt of proper documentation signed and approved by proper committee, loan officer, executive officer and or board approval. 
  • Enter all new retail, commercial, mortgage, construction and participation loans on Fiserv-Upon receipt of proper documentation signed and approved by the proper committee, loan officer, executive officer and/or board approval.
  • Review other team members booked loans to ensure they were booked accurately. 
  • Process and correct EOY loan interest statements 
  • Review and or enter TMS entries.
  • Problem solving. 
  • Provide customer service to customers, loan officers and co-workers with questions.
  • Review loan support e-mail box and complete work orders in a timely manner. 
  • Process portfolio merge requests as needed. 
  • Process OREO and charge off requests.
  • Quote loan payoffs to attorneys, title companies, internal employees and customers. 
  • Process non-post.
  • Update rates on Fiserv and Laser Pro.
  • Process returned mail.
  • Process loan payments received via US Mail. 
  • Process force placed insurance on loan accounts.
  • Assist with reports and projects.
  • Process returned checks and ACH’s.
  • May assist with training new employees as needed by the Loan Operations Specialist, II.
  • Provides customer service by listening to customers, anticipating their needs and answering their questions. Addresses inquiries and research requests from internal and external clients. Uses tools available to perform research, analyze transactions and follow through on appropriate resolution. Communicates results in a professional and prompt manner. 
  • Escalates more difficult inquiries to the Loan Operations Specialist, II. 
  • Learn and attain proficiency with the Bank’s core systems, Navigator and Director Software.
  • Other Duties as Assigned


Essential Education, Skills and Experience (Required):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of general banking experience or one (1) year of loan processing or operations experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Indicative, dependability and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make efficient, quality decisions as needed within stated limits
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Working knowledge and previous experience with Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word and Outlook

Nonessential Education, Skills and Experience (Preferred):

  • Associates Degree
  • Experience as a Loan Processor or experience in Loan Operations
